More reads! End of the Year, Ringing In the New!

No you don't get to know my next story. I'm still plotting it. Or seat-of-the-pants writing it.

However, my reading glasses are seated firmly on my nose and I'm reading some great novels. First, this one was not my cup of tea. *I picked up a novel available in paperback only, without a skosh of a sample, but tons of great reviews. I won't go into it or name the (non-Christian) author. Thankfully, it was an overused book. I closed my eyes by line three. That was a $6.99 loss.

HOWEVER. Undaunted, I moved on.

A great book here. I read "Honor System," by Jason Karpf. Not a book you want to miss. He displays his research and depth of reality in a creepy prequel to a dystopian nightmare. I understand genetic engineering and splicing to create something new and wrote a novel about it - trust me I checked everything down to the name of the town in part 1 of this novel, and it's 99% true, we're just one step away from something this disastrous. Part 2 comes down to "wearing the skin" of idolatry of self and in "HONOR." Idolatry of anything and especially of self is a death knell to faith and relationships.

I recommend this book to both sci-fi readers and those who want a spine-tingling look at tomorrow.

The first of January, I finished reading, "Holly Garden, PI: Red is for Rookie (Handcuffed in Texas)" by Anne Greene. A delightful mystery with private investigator, Holly Garden. Holly is the down-to-earth sister to debutantes and in a wealthy family in Dallas. Texas, if you wondered which one I meant. Holly and her best friend, Matt, have their first gig as security for a Dallas Valentine's Day whoop-de-doo, set up by Holly's mother. How Matt goes missing and Holly ends up under the table with an unconscious Stryker Black, PI (for a different PI agency) is the mystery. It's fun, lighthearted, faith-filled, dangerous, and delightful. I give this novel a 5 star, and Anne Greene is a new favorite novelist.

Just finished on 1/2, Jenessa Fayeth's rom/com suspense, "Taken with Trouble." The novel is second in this series & picks up where Amelia & Caleb left off -- with Serena Cruz, chasing down bad-guy, Liam Hawthorne - con-artist & suspected murderer. A stakeout at a karaoke bar finds Serena accidentally, suddenly, and thoroughly kissed by -- Liam Hawthorne himself. And ... she's been made, her cover blown. The surprises, fun, and adventure just keeps on coming. A wild ride across Europe (in a coffin) to Paris and London - to discover the real Liam, and to disclose herself finally to someone. Even if he is a hardened criminal.
