Yippee! I get to review a book I read (I've been slacking? Ya, kinda). Truth be told, I've been trying to read three (3) books at a time. How's that going for me? Don't ask.
However, I read Pebbles Wireman's memoir, "Finding Faith in the Storm." A powerful & moving true story of Pebbles's own journey through pain after pain and hospitalization after hospitalization (which hasn't stopped yet). It's an amazing memoir about the growth of discipleship, joy, growing faith, and trust in God when things go wrong. For anyone going through 'it' no matter what 'it' is, I highly recommend it. Beautifully done.
This was an encouraging book since we've dealt with not similar, yet similar issues. It's always tough to get to that point - no matter what God allows me to go through, He is with me, as He is with Pebbles and many out there who go through suffering. And Pebbles? She does so with the utmost of grace, faith, peace, and joy.
For me, I've finally sent the galley back to the publisher to be published - oh yeah. That would be "Shanghai Road, a Whiskey River Mystery, book 3."

What could possibly go wrong when an identity thief (without a real one) crosses paths with a homicide detective over a mysterious murder and a coverup? His hands are tied. Hers are not.
Catherine Cade is in a world of hurt when Rick Calhoun catches her red-handed. Prison? His own illegal perks? Some kind of weird romance (like... never!!) Is he involved in corruption and plans to kill her??? How is she supposed to transition from nurse practitioner (way too audacious!) to small town baker with him on her trail?
Rick Calhoun has plans all right. 1. put her to work? 2. keep her out of trouble? 3. get her to walk the straight and narrow? 4. bring her to the Lord? 5. and maybe, just maybe, win her heart.
Death twitches my ear. “Live,” he says. “I am coming.” —Virgil
Whiskey River’s medical examiner Jack McCloud has PTSD, a dark sense of humor, and an even darker mystery surrounding his autopsy table. The body of a redheaded forensic science major collegiate has been found hanging from a second-floor railing with a peculiar set of clues near the scene.
Jack and Mercedes, his unwanted new assistant, determine it's not suicide, and when they team up with the Whiskey River Police Department to investigate the college girl’s case, the consensus is homicide.
As the body count continues to rise, Jack and Mercedes race to put an end to this vicious serial killer, even as they are drawn inexorably toward each other. But their fragile romance may be the very thing that undermines their efforts, especially when the tangle of clues point a deadly compass their way.
With their own lives—and the life of Mercedes’s baby son—at stake, they must use every forensic skill they possess to solve and stop the murders before the killer comes for them.
And I'm off to face plant or read. Whichever comes first ;)
